The final business meeting for 2006 was held at the Martin Regional
Library on November 28. Chad Gillis started us of with announcements
about the indoor electric fly-in held at the Bristow High School Field
House and directed by Brandon Chitty. This year’s event will be on
Saturday, January 20. Sponsorships have grown tremendously for this 3-D
event that will attract many of this area’s finest pilots who will
compete for thousands in cash prizes as well as many excellent product
prizes.
Next, Randall made final announcements and reminders about the club’s
holiday pot luck dinner scheduled for December 16 at the library.
The treasurer’s report announced a balance of $14,200.
Elections of club officers for 2007 were held. No new candidates
surfaced, and all of the 2006 officers were elected for another year.
Balloting for annual club awards came next. The 2006 Rookie of The Year
honor was given to Chad Duncan. Nominees for the Craftsmanship Award
were Roy Minut for his beautiful classic Rudder Bug, Scott Johnson for
his foam Pond Racer, and Paul McDonald for his giant Mustang. Roy was
the eventual winner. The nominees for the Leroy Rogers Fellowship Award
were Chris Raymer for all of his volunteer work with student pilots and
Chad Gillis for his outstanding efforts with the security and parking
aspects of the Jumbo fly-in. The award went to Chad. Members also
wanted to express their appreciation to Scott Johnson for his technical
work on the Jumbo public address system, and voted to give him an
“Honorable Mention.”
Finally, the annual membership photo was scheduled for January 1, 2007.
