From The President

I am excited!!

The Heatwave in the Heartland is just over the horizon.  Tim has been very busy bringing in big name people like Frank Noll, Jr., Jason Danhakl, Sean McMurtry, Blaine Austin, and Bill Cunningham.  Tim’s diligence has paid off and Aviation Models has donated to the club a 30% Yak to be one of our pilot raffles.  Tim says there is a possibility that Aviation Models will fly Garrett Morrison here, who won the 2002 XFC, to demo a complete airplane.  Futaba is also making big donation as well to the pilot raffle.  I talked with Tom Smelts of Model Works and he has contacted Horizon Hobby to see if they can make a donation as well for our public raffle.  Jack Rogers is covering the registration for the pilots and has written a press release for the TV stations.  Doug Bromley is picking up items from HobbyTown, printing and delivering flyers, and he will also coordinate the Field Work Party we will have on July 25th to prepare the field for the Heatwave.  Chad Gillis has volunteered to handle the parking again this year which is a very big job and needs all the help he can get from the members.  Michael Manring has been doing a great job keeping the web site up to date on the Heatwave, photos and newsletters.  If you have not visited the web site in a while please check it out at www.tulsagluedobbers.com. The list goes on and on as to all the work that has been done for the Heatwave.

Oh, I must not forget that Tim’s wife Ann, is coordinating the concessions which is the biggest job of all.  She has spent a lot of time calling places to get the best prices for sub sandwiches.  Also, she will have a snow cone machine, pop corn machine, and candy to keep the hungrees away.  Ann needs all the help she can get from the wives of club members.  If your wife or daughters would like to help please contact Ann, phone: 918-637-6289.  Call Tim if you want to volunteer to help out for the Heatwave 918-688-4293.  This will be the biggest event the Tulsa Glue Dobbers has ever put on and we will need everyone's support.

Please do not miss this meeting, June 27th and the next meeting/work party July 25th.

Come Join the Fun!
