Some Dobbers attended the
Copan Jumbo during the weekend of June 17th and 18th.
Dobbers present included Doug Bromley, Jack Rogers, Tim Davie, Grant
Wilson, Randall and Chris Blackwood, and new member, Larry Schmidt
(brother of Grant's B-36 pilot, Tim Schmidt). |

Doug won a pilot drawing prize, a one night stay at the Crescent Hotel
in Eureka Springs, AR. Tim won: 2 tickets to Fantastic Caverns.

Chris and Randall went back
to Copan to fly again on Sunday. They got 5 more flights on Randall’s
P-47. Chris was having a really good time and wanted to take off and
land the P-47 so I let him. He made a beautiful take off and turned the
plane for a high speed strafing pass at the runway, making machine gun
noises and then said, " I am one of you now! I am sane, ....I am
sane!" He flew around a while then made a perfect landing. Chris’s
quote came from the movie the Big Red 1, the scenes takes place in a
mental hospital complete with throat slashings and inmates walking
around unconcerned while fighting rages and romantic music plays. As
men are killed, one patient picks up a
MP40 submachine gun and begins shooting at everyone in sight,
shouting, "I am one of you now! I am sane!...I am sane!". |
