Minutes of February Club Meeting

The February meeting was held on February 27, 2007 at the Martin Regional Library.

Randall started the meeting by showing us his OS .91 Ducted Fan engine module for his Jaguar jet that he is building.  Then, the minutes of the January meeting were read and approved.  We decided to email a copy of the May 12 Fly and Buy flyer to local clubs.  Jack Rogers has developed an address list of all the clubs within 250 miles of Tulsa, and we hope this coverage will help cover for the fact that our event will not be listed in Model Aviation magazine due to a mix-up at AMA headquarters.

Substantial discussion then continued on where to extend our concrete slab as a way to expand the setup area out of the mud during the winter season.  Chad Duncan has offered help and contacts that will substantially reduce the cost.  Eventually, members present voted to spend $2500 to extend the slab under the sun shelter about 15 feet to the east.  Debate also ensued over the preservation of the orange safety fence in front of the pilot stations.  Members present voted to continue maintaining a safety barrier of some form.  We also asked Jerald Summers to investigate the cost of hauling in “clink” to reinforce the surface of the gravel parking lot and drive.

Doug announced that our current frequency clip engraver will be ceasing operations on April 1, and officers are investigating other options.  Also, last year’s mowing contractor will not be available this season.  We wish to thank Richard Sheldon for doing a wonderful job and for reducing our expenses in this area.  Chuck Misner is interested in taking over the job, and he will be discussing the issue with officers.  And finally, Roy Minut brought his Squirt 700 to the meeting for show and tell.  The .20 sized, electric, vintage model was beautifully finished as are all of Roy and Judy’s efforts.
