The last outdoor meeting of
the summer season was held on September 27. Just
prior to actual business meeting, we had a birthday party for Tim Davie as
his wife wanted us to help celebrate Tim’s adventure into his fifth
decade of life. The food was great, and young and old had a wonderful time
due to Anne’s excellent preparation.
When the meeting began, Tim gave an extensive report
revealing some budget issues that might indicate a need for increased
membership dues.

Here is an approximate summary of our basic expenses. Utilities
- $275, TASM - $500, Newsletter - $600, Mowing and Brush Hogging –
$3570, Office - $120, Porta John - $80, AMA - $150,
Frequency Pins - $650, Misc. - $350. This
minimum base comes to $7400, while our dues income was $8000.
However, additional spending for capital improvements and charitable
donations brought the total expenses to about $13,000. Discussion
then centered around raising the adult membership dues to $80.

This
measure passed with a show of hands of approximately thirty to two. We
also approved raising the youth age definition to be in line with the AMA.
Now youths 19 or under as of
July 1 of the membership year can join the Glue Dobbers for $5 and the AMA
for $1. Next, Scott Matson
volunteered to reduce our brush hogging expenses by doing the work for us
with his equipment at a greatly reduced price. And
finally, it was decided to have our next meeting at the new Tulsa Air and
Space Museum.
