The first meeting of the
year was held at Martin Regional Library, our new winter meeting location.
Randall first updated us on
the processes of maintaining our status as a corporation to protect our
officers from liability issues. He
and our attorney are looking into it. Then
Jack Rogers reported on the request by the Civil Air Patrol for another
flying date for their junior members. He
told them we are happy to do it as soon as warmer weather appears in the
spring. The CAP members have
offered to help us with Jumbo Fly-In chores.
Randall and
Chad Gillis
then reported on the Chitty Indoor Fly-In held at the Bristow gym.
Brandon Chitty
estimated 600-700 spectators came to watch 32 pilots fly indoor foamy
routines.

It was a great success and the school system wants the event again next
year. Seven pilots were from
Oklahoma
and the rest were from out of state.
Next, Grant Wilson reported on the trip he
and
Jim Ewers
made to
Kansas City
for a giant R/C swap meet. There
were 125 tables full of stuff to buy, and Grant came home with another
KAOS. Field improvements were
discussed. It was reported
that concrete parking blocks were installed to replace the old telephone
poles. We are also hoping to
weld heavy duty eyebrows onto the clubhouse locks to discourage break-ins.
We may also install motion
sensors and lights.

After
the treasury report revealed a balance of $11,150, it was suggested that
we reconsider the expense of the Christmas dinner. Some
members expressed a willingness to pay their own way, and it was decided
to table this topic until later in the year. A
proposal was made to host a “Buy and Fly” event this spring. The
tentative date agreed upon is May 13. And
finally,
Guy Shipley
announced his willingness to send members a copy of the aerial photo of
our flying field. Simply email
your request to Guy at WB5MXO@cox.net.
