Minutes of the May Club Meeting

The meeting began with an excellent presentation by Rod Johnson, from I – 4C Products.  Rod’s Tulsa based company sells high quality, usually one of a kind, R/C products at stores, on the web, and through dealers.  The “C-Volt" (on-board digital voltmeter) is his best seller.  Rod entertained our members for nearly an hour with his displays, demos, and stories about many of his products.  He also added that TGD members will receive a discount on his products.  Just mention your membership.

Randall then reported on the Fun Fly and picnic held in early May. It was a reasonable success and particularly fun for those who entered the timed competitions.

Next, Randall presented several expenditure proposals to improve the field.  Glue Dobbers graphics on the clubhouse wall failed to pass however, other

major improvements passed overwhelmingly.  A cost of $3,180 was approved to build a second 14’ x 26’ sun shelter in the helicopter area replacing the existing slab and tables. The other major improvement that passed was $450 to extend electricity to both the airplane and the helicopter shelters.

The Jumbo report noted that we have begun signing up volunteers, we have sent out requests for vendors to attend, and we are still seeking access to a good sound system.  Tim has pushed the event in his travels, we now have web discussions spreading the word, and four “show pilots” have all agreed to attend.  It looks likethis event will be huge, parking will be an issue, and many members will be needed to help with several different jobs.

Nominations for the Dumb Award went to Doug Bromley and new member, Bill McArthur.  Doug crashed his NXS in a battle with the morning sun at the picnic, but members agreed that it was more of a tragedy than a Dumb Award winner.  Instead they honored Bill who learned the hard way that using double-sided sticky tape for servo mounting in a foamy only works in cool weather.  Taking his easy to pack foamy on a trip to Arizona proved that heat, tape, and foam don’t mix.

And finally, it was decided to hold the June meeting at the flying field on Tuesday, June 28, at 7:00.

Secretary
