The 2005 Jumbo

The Tulsa Glue Dobbers Jumbo is coming together!!!  You may already know we have multi-Tournament of Champions, (TOC) Competitor Sean McMurtry booked as our headliner for Saturday and Sunday Noon demos...but that's not all.  Also, TOC competitor Bill Cunningham, whom we all know, will be rubbing elbows with all of his fans again and will be a great draw for our event.  Jason Danhakl from San Antonio will be our 3D draw (Jason just finished 4th out of 15 at the Extreme Flight Championships in Troy OH on June 12th).  If those names weren't enough, Airplane Blaine Austin (also a former XFC pilot) is also coming (www.blaineaustin.com).   Blaine is the President of the Extreme Aerobatic Club, which holds weekly events all over the South.  We are counting on Blaine to bring quite a few of those pilots with him as TGD registered pilots.  In addition, Blaine will also bring his sound system.

As of this writing (6/13), we have approximately 50 pilots who have tentatively committed, and the list is growing.  If I had to guess, I would say we are going to end up around 70-80 pilots...but it could be more.  You can always go to RC Universe in the events section to check on our progress and the tentative pilots list.  It is also interesting to read the list for the pilot's comments of those coming.  There has been talk about spectators, and as you know our parking is limited.  With 70-80 pilots and half of those pilots having trailers....we can quickly become very tight on parking space.  Nevertheless, I have spoken with Julie Chin at Ch. 2, and there is a possibility she might do a live feed from the TGD field on Saturday the 30th.  Needless to say, parking coordination will be very important.  We will need real physical help during the week of the Jumbo, probably starting early in the week of July 24th.  If you noticed, 70-80 pilots is an

increase 4X what we have had in the past, so HELP WILL BE NEEDED.  In addition to "help getting the field ready”, we still need help during the event for; Parking, Registration, Concessions, Inspections...We can't do it without you, and you are the Glue Dobbers.  By the time you read this, TGD officers will have met and understand the workings of this event in detail.  You will be able to ask Randall Blackwood , Doug Bromley , Jack Rogers , or myself about the Jumbo...we all should be equally informed.  I will have a sign up sheet at our next meeting with positions that will be available.

Let's exceed our guest’s expectations this year and keep building on this event year over year.  IT'S NOT TOO OFTEN YOU GET 2 TOC PILOTS AND 5 XFC PILOTS AT ONE EVENT!!!!  But we are going to have them at ours!  Let's all get involved and enjoy this big event.
